We have had more phone calls than I can count from Honda GL1800 owners that have electrical noise in the bike's intercom.  There is no filter that fixes the problem.  After researching a proper fix, we have discovered the root cause; the bikes grounds.

Honda used 2 main ground points on the bike.  G1 and G2.  G2 is easy to access....it's under the right engine side cover.  G1 is a different story...under the fuel cell.  Honda used Loctite on some of the ground bolts....Loctite inhibits a good ground connection.  The other issue is how the wires make contact.  Honda didn't scrape off the paint from the frame where the ground lugs make contact or they stacked the ground lug on a painted bracket.  That limits the ground connection to the threads on the bolts.  The one's that have Loctite on them.  You can see the issue.

We have developed a service that fixes the problems.  We start off by removing the shelter.  We then tilt up your fuel tank and do the following; remove bolt, tap threads to remove Loctite, remove paint from frame, restack the ground lug, add a lock washer to replace Loctite and add an additional ground wire.  We then go to the other ground point, remove hardware, tap the holes to remove Loctite, remove Loctite from bolts, add lock washers and add an additional ground wire.

In regards to the 'wind noise' that some experience....the best course of action is to switch off your mics.

The service takes about 2 hours.  Cost is all inclusive at $150.00 + tax.  This service is only available by appointment.  Every bike gets a pre-service evaluation by both us and you.  Once complete, we will perform another evaluation to compare the improvement.  Every bike to date has had almost 100% removal of noise.
